Graduate Certificate in

Course Objective: 
The programme is for anyone with a B.Eng. (Civil Engineering) degree, B.Eng.(Environmental Engineering with minor in Civil Infrastructure) degree, or equivalent who is interested to advance or update their knowledge in Geotechnical Engineering.  

With a long pipeline of major infrastructure works including the new MRT lines, North-South expressway, Changi Airport Terminal 5 and phase 2 of the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System, the demand for engineers with in-depth geotechnical engineering knowledge is expected to be strong. 

The short courses in this Graduate Certificate programme aim to help interested engineers to advance their knowledge in geotechnical engineering technology, tunnelling and deep excavation. 

Who May Apply: 
Bachelor degree holders with relevant experience, in particular B.Eng. (Civil Engineering) degree and  B.Eng. (Environmental Engineering with minor in Civil Infrastructure), or equivalent. 

How Many Modules To Complete: 
Select 8 out of 10 modules 

Stackable to a Masters of Science in Engineering*
Upon completion of the Graduate Certificate Programme, graduates with CAP 3.50 and above could be considered for admission to either MSc (Geotechnical Engineering) or other relevant MSc (Civil Engineering) programmes as well as MEng programme.

Candidature Period and Duration 
Maximum period of candidature is 2 years. 

Award of Graduate Certificate 
Successful completion of 16 modular credits with a Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of at least 2.50 out of 5 will be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Geotechnical Engineering 

Per Module Contact Hours 
The contact hours for a 2-MC module will be between 18 - 22 hours in total, which include lectures, tutorials, projects & discussions, and assessments. 

Note: Students can take individual modules without registering for the Graduate Certificate. The credits earned can be considered to the Graduate Certificate.
