Bachelor of Technology (BTech) Programmes

Studying on a part-time basis, with classes on weekday evenings and the occasional weekend, our students typically take about 4 to 4½ years to complete all degree requirements. To enable students to better plan for the financing of their studies, BTech fees are charged on the cohort-based system in practice in NUS since AY2008/09. Under the cohort-based fee system, tuition fees for an intake cohort of students is fixed throughout the student's candidature. While fees continue to be reviewed annually and adjustments made as and when necessary with each new cohort of students, each new cohort will know the exact amount of tuition fees they have to pay throughout their candidature.

For the incoming cohort of AY2017/18,

BTech (Computing) Programmes: These programmes are newly launched in AY2017/18. Tuition fees for the programmes is around $114,000. The Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) provides eligible Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) taking part-time undergraduate degree programmes in local universities with a substantial tuition fee subsidy. After subsidy, the tuition fees payable by Singaporeans and SPRs are around $17,000 and $29,000 respectively.

BTech (Engineering) Programmes: Tuition fees for the programme remains around $39,000*. After subsidy, the tuition fees payable by Singaporeans and SPRs will be around $18,000 and $31,000 respectively.

Apart from tuition fees, students will have to pay an Administrative Fee (of $250) and Student Services Fee (as published by NUS Registrar’s Office) every regular semester, except Special Term.

Undergraduate Certificate (UGC) Courses

Similar to BTech programmes, UGC courses are also offered on a part-time basis and are designed to be completed anywhere between 6 and 24 months. As this is a comparatively shorter-term commitment than a part-time degree programme with students having the flexibility to decide the pace of their studies, fees are charged on an enrolment basis. At any point in time, an enrolled UGC student will be charged fees at the prevailing rates.

For AY2017/18,

UGC (Computing) Courses: These are newly launched in AY2017/18. Tuition fees per modular credit is $950. Only eligible Singaporeans taking these UGC courses are given a substantial tuition fee subsidy by the MOE. After subsidy, the tuition fees payable by Singaporeans is around $134** per modular credit.

UGC (Engineering) Courses: Tuition fees per modular credit is $318*. Similarly eligible Singaporeans taking these UGC courses are given a substantial tuition fee subsidy by the MOE. After subsidy, the tuition fees payable by Singaporeans is around $143 per modular credit.

Apart from tuition fees, students will have to pay Student Services Fee (of $261.85), which includes the Administrative Fee component, every regular semester, except Special Term.

(All fees quoted here are inclusive of GST. The University reserves all rights to review fees as necessary and adjust accordingly without prior notice.)

* While this is clearly not representative of the true cost of delivering our part-time degree programmes, the University has decided to defer any fee adjustments for the BTech (Engineering) and related UGC programmes for the time being.

** While there is no similar subsidy available for SPRs, as part of SCALE’s mission to effectively support the manpower needs of Singapore especially in areas highly demanded by the industry, for the time being, NUS extends a partial remission of fees to SPRs for their efforts in continuing and lifelong learning through pursuing our UGC (Computing) courses. Effectively, the tuition fees payable by SPRs enrolled in UGC (Computing) courses in AY2017/18 is $375 per modular credit.
