FUTUREPRENEUR PROGRAMME: LEARNING TO LEAD WITH TECH
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Technology is a key driver of innovation. Enterprises, large and small, need to harness the power of technology to remain competitive, to grow and to evolve. Dedicated to Youth Innovators, this immersive online programme aims to inspire, equips, and enable teenage founders to the world of entrepreneurship and technology innovation that disrupt status-quo for positive impacts.
They will learn tools to identify, prioritize and select market opportunities, and what it takes to pitch a proposal successfully. They will become aware of the varying factors that influence the innovation process and learn how make sense of this complexity.
Ultimately, students will learn how to create value from a technology innovation and what it really takes to lead innovation and innovative teams.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
- The programme is designed with a mix of thematic discussions, tutorials, and continuous assessments format to sharpen the understanding and application of ideas learned during the lectures.
- Students will gain insights and hands-on experience in identifying market opportunities, lean model, and rapid prototyping through simulated pitching demo-day on immersive tech topics.

PRE-REQUISITES
There are no specific pre-requisites in terms of background knowledge or experience in innovation or entrepreneurship.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Pre-university and high school students age 16 – 18 years old, who are interested in learning how to create value and generate revenue from technological innovation.
MODE OF DELIVERY
18 hours of online synchronous programme, including lectures and interactive tutorials.

MODE OF ASSESSMENT
Students will be assessed via a variety of assignments and assessments:
- Individual written assignment
- Participation in Zoom sessions
- Group work on ideation and brainstorming
- Pitching Team Project

Dr Vinod VASNANI, Founder, Qryptal – a tech enterprise, Programme Lead and Adjunct Associate Professor for NUS Graduate Module: Enterprise Development
Vinod has over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and an intrapreneur having started his career at Emerson Process Management in R&D. Subsequently, he became a Product Manager for it’s new market leading control systems and led it’s rollout for Asia Pacific. In late 1999, he joined Accellion soon after it was founded. There he built and worked with a diverse team of engineers to deliver market leading secure distributed file transfer used in over 2,000 enterprises globally today. Wanting to chart his own tech path, Vinod co-founded Qryptal (www.qryptal.com) in 2011. Qryptal develops platforms for document security and integrity. It is currently used in over 15 countries across large enterprises, SMEs and government.
Leveraging on his extensive experience in leading tech innovation & entrepreneurial ventures, Vinod has developed and led unique experiential modules in NUS’ Institute for Engineering Leadership (IEL) in the Faculty of Engineering since its inception in 2012. He leads the Enterprise Development module where graduate student teams find new market opportunities for stakeholder enterprises. He challenges the students not only to hone their innovation and entrepreneurial skills but also to step up as leaders. Vinod also contributes to other programmes such as IEL’s TechLaunch module where graduate student teams to get Technology to Market. He ran IEL’s InnoVenture module for undergraduates which equips students with skills to create value by addressing a tech problem set by stakeholder enterprises.
Vinod is very much involved in developing a community in engineering and tech, driven by a shared passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, connecting a diverse group of industry leaders with talented graduate and undergraduate students, as well as taking an active role in mentoring and guiding these talents.
Vinod has a Ph.D. and Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from the National University of Singapore.

Mr Randall SIE, Founder, Persistensie – strategy and innovation consulting company,
Co-Programme Lead and Adjunct Lecturer for NUS Graduate Module: Enterprise Development
Randall started as a strategy and management consultant at Capgemini Consulting in the Netherlands covering a wide range of projects from culture changes to IT implementations and business cases. Upon pursuing his MBA at NUS, Randall focused on innovation leadership development and technology commercialization with subsequent roles as Programme Lead and Lecturer at IEL, and most recently as a Director Innovation at the MetLife Innovation Centre – LumenLab. Randall has broad Asia experience having delivered projects and workshops in a wide variety of Asian countries. Randall is active in the startup ecosystem as co-founder (Structo3D) and facilitator and mentor in various corporate and university innovation programs.
Randall holds a BSc. in International Business Administration and MSc. in Strategic Management from the Erasmus University, Rotterdam. He holds an MBA from the National University of Singapore. He is an Accredited Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre, Singapore Certified Management Consultant (TUVSUD) and WSQ ACLP certified.
Currently, Randall runs his own strategy and innovation consulting company Persistensie Pte Ltd advising startups, government institutions and MNCs.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
Successful participants who complete all requirements of the programme including passing the assessment will receive a certificate of completion issued by NUS SCALE.
