Dr. Mitchell Lai obtained a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Alberta, Canada; and a PhD in Neurochemistry from University of Sydney, Australia. His research interest is in dementia, specifically in the area of neuropathology, neurochemistry, and the identification of drug targets and biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. In his current role as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, he is also involved in teaching life science, pharmacy, nursing, dental and medical students as well as the development of CET courses

Prof. Gavin Dawe obtained a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in Pharmacology from King’s College London, University of London. He worked in the stem cell biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries before joining the National University of Singapore, where he is now Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and he has received several research awards, including the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Academic Centre of Excellence Research Award in 2010 and the Singapore Neuroscience Association Distinguished Neuroscientist Award in 2017

Associate Professor

Prof. Christopher Chen is a Senior Clinician-Scientist at the Departments of Pharmacology and Psychological Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Director of the Memory Aging and Cognition Centre. His early medical and research training was at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford as well as the Institute of Neurology, London. Since returning to Singapore, Prof. Chen has developed multi-disciplinary research programmes with extensive international collaborations. His major research and clinical interests are in neuroimaging, molecular biology and treatment of stroke and dementia. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed papers, is the PI for several studies with cognitive outcomes, serves on journal editorial boards and has been a member of clinical trial steering committees and advisory panels. Currently he is President of the Asian Society Against Dementia, Secretary-Treasurer of the Asian & Oceanian Association of Neurology and past-chair of the International Society for Vascular Behavioural and Cognitive Disorders.
