FINTECH
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
This online youth programme is specially curated for undergraduate students major in economics or finance who are interested in financial technologies and their application in Financial industry and business operation. The programme focuses on thematic areas of financial technology with the use of real-world business cases to illustrate the design, application and relevant regulatory measures of fintech. Students will also learn to master Design Thinking technology through hands-on problem-solving labs and are required to present a case study at the end of the course.
By the end of the course, participants should be able to:
- understand non-technical fundamentals of Blockchain, Smart Contracts and Digital Assets;
- understand non-technical fundamentals of Decentralized, Pseudo–Decentralized and Centralized Cryptocurrencies;
- understand the Impact of Cryptocurrencies on Monetary Policy;
- understand Different Capital Raising Methods including non-technical fundamentals of Blockchain–Based Methods;
- understand Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in FinTech;
- understand FinTech Applications;
- understand Financial Forecasting.

PRE-REQUISITES
Students will find it beneficial to have some basic knowledge of finance and technology prior to enrolling in this course. Those without pre-requisite basic knowledge will be required to put extra effort in order to follow the course.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Year Two and Year Three undergraduate students majoring in Economics or Finance, with strong desire to learn the basics of financial management with professional terminology, but without jargon.
MODE OF DELIVERY
18 hours of online programme, including synchronous lessons, tutorials and a final project presentation.

Dr Emir Hrnjic, Head of Fintech Training & Senior Research Fellow, Asian Institute of Digital Finance
Dr. Emir obtained a Ph.D. in Finance from Tulane University in 2005 and has held research & teaching positions at Tulane University, Virginia Tech University, and National University of Singapore. He also served as CEO of CIBFM (a training arm of Monetary Authority of Brunei Darussalam). His case studies are widely used at the top universities such as Harvard, Stanford, and Yale, while his commentaries are sought by major media outlets such as BBC, Bloomberg, and CNA. Dr. Emir is an expert in litigation consulting, hedge fund consulting, and FinTech consulting.

Associate Professor Ke-Wei Huang, School of Computing
Dr. Ke-Wei Huang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr. Huang joined NUS in July 2007. He received his Ph.D. (2007), M.Phil. (2005), and M.Sc. (2002) degrees in Information Systems from the Stern School of Business at New York University, and his M.B.A. in Finance (1997) and B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (1995) from National Taiwan University.
Dr. Huang's research interests are in the economics of information systems and data mining for financial applications. Currently, he focuses on various topics of pricing digital goods, labor economics of IT professionals, and data mining or econometrics issues for topics in accounting or finance.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
Successful participants who complete all requirements of the programme including passing the assessment will receive a certificate of completion issued by NUS SCALE.
