FINTECH AND DIGITAL BUSINESS

 

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

This 6-week online youth programme is specially curated for undergraduate students major in economics or finance who are interested in financial technologies (FinTech) and their application in Financial industry and business operation. The programme focuses on thematic areas of financial technology with the use of plenty real-world business cases to illustrate the design, application, risks and relevant regulatory measures of FinTech. Students will also learn to master the concepts of ‘New Ways of Working’ including Design Thinking and Lean Startup methods through hands-on problem-solving labs and are required to present a case study at the end of the course.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the landscape of financial technologies and their applications;
  • Understand the fundamentals of Chatbots and Robotic Process Automation;
  • Understand the business parameters of Blockchain and applications of Smart Contracts;
  • Understand the concepts of Digital Asset Classes and new capital raising methods;
  • Understand Big Data and the concepts of Artificial Intelligence and its applications;
  • Understand how to develop a FinTech Strategy;
  • Understand the main concepts of ‘New Ways of Working’ and its applications;
  • Understand FinTech risks and regulations.

PRE-REQUISITES

Participants should some basic knowledge of finance and technology.

Participants should be able to read, write and communicate fluently in English, and understand basic terminologies used in the class.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Undergraduate Year 2 and Year 3 students major in Economics or Finance with interests in FinTech and its business applications.

MODE OF DELIVERY

18 hours of Synchronous sessions including tutorials and final presentation.

Claudia has over 20 years of financial industry expertise within investment management, insurance and banking. She held management functions across the globe in the U.S., U.K., Germany, The Netherlands and Singapore.

In 2019 she joined SC Ventures which is the innovation arm of Standard Chartered Bank, headquartered in Singapore. In her role, she coaches C-Suite, senior stakeholders, regulators, clients and partners globally to incubate new ideas and design as well as commercialise products that solve everyday business problems. She is an expert in human-centred design, lean start-up and agile methods.

Claudia is a lecturer at National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University and Singapore Academy of Law as well as international speaker on topics around FinTech & emerging technologies, corporate innovation, digital transformation and entrepreneurship.

Since 2001, she is a mentor, board advisor and VC investor in startups & scale-ups. She is an investment advisor to Venture Capital funds in Europe and Singapore.

Before joining SC Ventures, she worked at other top-notch institutions like State Street Bank, ABN AMRO, ING and NN Group.

Claudia holds a LL.M. degree in Chinese Business Law as well as a M.Sc. in Economics and Operations Research.

 

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Successful participants who complete all requirements of the programme including passing the assessment will receive a certificate of completion issued by NUS SCALE.
