Jane Ittogi

Jane Ittogi is deeply engaged in initiatives for social development and sustainability. She has also been long involved in art leadership and as an advocate of the transformative power of art, including for prison inmates.

Ms Ittogi co-founded Tasek Academy and Social Services a decade ago, as a social service agency enabling disadvantaged children and youth to build confidence and their talents, and ex-inmates to rebuild their lives.

She also co- chairs Conservation International’s Asia Pacific Advisory Council. In addition, she co-founded GreenSG COLLAB with a team of fellow citizens, to help catalyse awareness and community and youth responses to the climate crisis.

Ms Ittogi was Chair of the Board of Singapore Art Museum, (SAM), the nation’s contemporary art museum, for a decade till 2018, during which she guided its corporatisation. She also co-chaired four editions of the Singapore Biennale, and had also been on the national Selection Advisory Committee for the Venice Biennale.

Ms Ittogi worked to initiate structured training in art with Singapore Prisons in the late 2000s, conducted by established artists, faculty of La Salle College and museum curators. Inmates obtained certification upon completion of their courses, and had their works displayed at an annual exhibition in Prison and also at SAM, a practice that continues today.

She also served on the Board and Executive Committee of the National Gallery Singapore, the nation’s historical and modern art museum from 2010 to 2018, and on the Board of La Salle College of the Arts from 2009 to 2023. In addition, she sat on the Board of the National Heritage Board, and chaired the Istana Art Collection Advisory Committee.

For several years she chaired the Singapore LSE Trust, which awards scholarships each year to Singapore students who demonstrate commitment to do good; she continues her involvement as Emeritus Chair. She was conferred an Honorary Fellowship by the LSE in June 2023.

Ms Ittogi is a lawyer by background, and has been on leave from practice. She had her schooling in Singapore, before obtaining an LLB and LLM from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She lectured in law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the UK before returning to Singapore in the mid-1980s.

She is married to Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and they have four children.

Professor Eric Grimson is Chancellor for Academic Advancement at MIT, Professor of Computer Science, and the Bernard M. Gordon Professor of Medical Engineering. He also serves as Interim Vice President for Open Learning. As Chancellor, he represents the Institute to alumni/alumnae, parents and others, and is a central advisor to MIT’s president and provost on MIT's fundraising priorities and the relationship of those priorities to the MIT community and to external partners. As Vice President, he oversees MIT’s efforts in online education, including Open Courseware, MITx, and xPro. A faculty member since 1984, he previously served as Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and as Chancellor for MIT. In addition to research in computer vision and medical image analysis, Professor Grimson teaches introductory Computation courses, including an online MITx course. In all, he has taught nearly 20,000 MIT undergraduates and served as the thesis supervisor to almost 50 MIT PhDs. A Fellow of AAAI, of ACM, and of IEEE, he earned a BSc (High Honours) in mathematics and physics from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada, and a PhD in mathematics from MIT, and holds a Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) from Dalhousie University and a Doctor of Science (honoris causa) from University of Saskatchewan, and from University of Regina.




Li Jun Lei

Harvard University

Professor Junlei Li is a developmental psychologist, Co-Chair of the Human Development and Education Program, and Saul Zaentz Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

His research and practice focus on understanding and supporting the work of helpers – those who serve children and families on the frontlines of education and social services.  Li studied and learned from a wide range of developmental settings with low resources but high-quality practices, including orphanages, childcare, classrooms, and community youth programs.  He developed the “Simple Interactions” approach (www.simpleinteractions.org) to help identify what ordinary people do extraordinarily well with children in everyday moments and made that the basis for promoting positive system change.

Professor Li frequently delivers keynote presentations and workshops for national, state, and international conferences focused on improving practices, programs, and policies for children, families, and professionals, with a particular emphasis on early childhood development.  He teaches about improving human interactions and supporting adult helpers. He serves on boards and advisory panels for non-profit organizations and various initiatives at the U.S. Administration for Children and Families. Li’s work is significantly influenced and inspired by the pioneering work of Fred Rogers (creator of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood).  He previously served as the Co-Director and Rita M. McGinley Professor for Early Learning and Children’s Media at the Fred Rogers Center at Saint Vincent College. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in cognitive and developmental psychology from Carnegie Mellon University, and a B.S. in Computer Science from University of Notre Dame.



Matthew Weait

Professor Matthew Weait is Director of the Department for Continuing Education and Professor of Law and Society at the University of Oxford. Prior to that he was Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Hertfordshire, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Portsmouth and Pro-Vice-Master at Birkbeck, University of London. Matthew’s research is in the field of law and public health, in particular the impact of criminal law and criminal justice processes on people living with HIV and AIDS. In 2015 he was elected a Bencher of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, where he is Vice-Chair of the Education and Training Committee. In 2017 he was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, and in 2021 to the Royal Society for Public Health.

Alex Mitchell

Dr Alex Mitchell is a senior lecturer in the Department of Communications and New Media (CNM) at the National University of Singapore. He teaches interdisciplinary courses on games, play and storytelling in CNM’s undergraduate and professional Master of Communication programs, and in the College of Humanities and Sciences. He has a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, and holds a PhD in Integrative Sciences and Engineering from the National University of Singapore. Alex is a recipient of the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award (2007/2008, 2021, 2022, honour roll 2023-2027), and the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Faculty Teaching Excellence Award (2006-2008, 2019-2021).




Anderson Tan

With an extensive 20-year background in enterprise development, Anderson has cultivated a fulfilling career as a serial entrepreneur, venture and corporate investor, skills development expert and a Practising Management Consultant. Anderson has a strong academic standing with a Master of Arts in Lifelong Learning and a Master of Engineering.  

Anderson also has extensive expertise in Business-Training Consulting.  He is the key driver in the internationalisation of the Singapore skills system, with interests in Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, India and Myanmar. Anderson is currently the Lead Consultant in developing the Philippine Skills Framework (PSF).  He is also supporting the industrialisation of Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam; as well as developing the start-up ecosystem there.

In his pivotal role as Managing Director for the Asia Pacific market, Anderson leverages his profound expertise to offer strategic project financing advisory services within the Environmental, Social and Governance areas. Bai Bin

Bai Bin is an Associate Professor and the deputy director at the Institute of Vocational and Adult Education, Beijing Normal University. He is primarily responsible for staff development, scientific research, and international affairs.

He is an External Review Expert of the Education University of Hong Kong; Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Hanover, Germany; Visiting Scholar at the University of Bremen, Germany, and the Open University, UK. He is also a consultant for the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education.

He has published four monographs in both Chinese and English and over fifty academic papers in Chinese, English, and German. His main research fields include teacher’s professional development in vocational education, workplace learning, adult learning and psychology, artificial intelligence and education development, and digital and online learning.




Dapheny Chen

Dapheny Chen is an independent dance artist who negotiates between the roles of a choreographer, performer, educator. Breaking away from her conventional dance training, she examines socio-political ideologies to navigate the possibilities of contemporary dance, while seeking to create alternative nodes of experience and entry points as conversations for change and knowledge. Her work at Dance Nucleus (2018-2023) has led her to focus on the sustainability of dance artists and their related work and labour practices. 



Evelyn Ang

Dr Jonathan Chee

Dr Jonathan Chee is Lead Academic Mentor at Temasek Polytechnic. With three decades of experience in education and training, Jonathan provides training and consultancy in pedagogy, technology-enhanced learning, and learning analytics. He conducted professional development courses on problem-based learning for nursing educators in Singapore and educators of intellectual programs from Kazakhstan. Jonathan is also a Citizen Data Scientist at TP. He teaches working adult learners in Data Science essentials through CET courses. His academic interests include self-regulation, learning analytics, and teacher knowledge and design capacity in technology integration. Jonathan holds an MSc in Information Technology (Software and Systems) from the University of Glasgow, UK, and an MEd and EdD from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is also an ad-hoc peer reviewer for the journals Australasian Journal of Educational Technology (AJET) and Pedagogies: An International Journal.




Jonathan Sim

Mr Jonathan Y. H. Sim is Associate Fellow with the NUS Teaching Academy, and Lecturer with the Department of Philosophy, at the National University of Singapore. He teaches the Philosophy of Computing and Data Analytics and Chinese philosophy to both undergraduates and working professionals. He is also involved in a collaboration between NUS and the National Silver Academy to conduct philosophy classes for retirees. For his passion in teaching and his effective teaching methods, Jonathan won the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award (FTEA) in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Jonathan is working with various government agencies, offering insights as a philosopher on various national issues, and he has also been invited to share his insights on education to various media outlets in Singapore and across the Asia Pacific region.

Lau Siew Tiang Lydia, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Director of Education at Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). She received her Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) and Master in Health Science (Education) from the University of Sydney and her PhD from NUS. Lydia serves as the Chair of the ALCNS Education Innovation research programme, NUS Teaching Fellow, and on workgroup committees in the Singapore Nursing Board/Ministry of Health. Lydia advocates pedagogical and innovative technology in teaching, such as simulation and virtual and mixed reality. She spearheaded the development of the NUS nursing Entrustable Professional Activities (EPA) framework and the immersive virtual reality for procedures.




Ma Ying

Ying is a passionate curriculum specialist with over 15 years of experience integrating technology to foster innovative pedagogy and learner centricity. Her journey began as a science educator, where she ignited curiosity and learner agency through tech-infused lessons. This passion for educational technology propelled her to become an ICT and instructional design trainer, empowering educators to utilise technology for impactful learning experiences. Driven by a desire to continuously improve, Ying actively conducts research at the intersection of andragogy, educational technology, and inclusive learning environments. She also shares cutting-edge findings and best practices regularly at major international conferences. Part of her current work focuses on leveraging generative AI to streamline and optimize curriculum design processes, recognising the potential challenges of AI and seeking strategies to mitigate them. Additionally, Ying champions the use of frameworks like TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) and UDL (Universal Design for Learning) to bridge the digital divide and ensure accessibility for all learners.




Matthew Grey

Mr Matt Grey
Programme Leader, Diploma in Performance, LASALLE College of the Arts

Matt Grey is an award-winning actor and educator with over thirty-five years of industry experience. He has acted, directed and taught acting internationally in Australia, Britain, France, India and Singapore. He specialises in voice and speech training and has been managing the Diploma in Performance at LASALLE since 2015. Matt has developed the programme to educate artistic practitioners, who are socially responsive, critically engaged and independently creative.
 
In addition to his programme leadership and teaching practice, he acts regularly for Singapore’s leading theatre companies. His acting debut was in British television at the age of sixteen. He later trained at the Guildford School of Acting conservatoire and has continued to perform ever since. In 2013, he was awarded ‘Best Actor’ in the 13th Life Theatre awards for his portrayal of Sigmund Freud in Freud’s Last Session.
 
Matt’s research interest is in voice and speech training in Singapore. Over the last twenty-five years, he has integrated established pedagogies into a process that promotes the actor’s authenticity and credibility in realistic and stylised acting. Working in a multi-cultural context, his research enables his students to work across different modalities and develop a wide and flexible range of artistic responses in their work. 
 
In a search for an ideal process, Matt is undertaking PhD research into the cognitive activities that influence both everyday behaviour and performance.

Melissa Quek

Ms Melissa Quek

Heading the School of Dance & Theatre, Melissa Quek is a choreographer, performer and educator whose research and choreographic interest lies in investigating the body-subject. Her works and creative process attempt to touch on questions of agency, materiality and perception to create a visceral experience for the audience. Some projects include site-specific outdoor performance with wheelchair users, and The Kueh Tutus (2018) collective dedicated to creating dance for young audiences. Melissa sits on various judging, grant and award panel committees for organisations such as NAC, MOE and also contributes dance reviews to The Straits Times. 




Misty So-Sum

Misty So-Sum Wai-Cook is Deputy Director and Senior Lecturer at the Centre for English Language Communication, and Resident Fellow/Associate Director of Student Life at the College of Alice & Peter Tan (CAPT). Her teaching and research interests lie in teaching undergraduate and graduate students the application of language and communication skills in contexts, in both the formal and informal curriculum. She has also recently joined CAPT to be a part of a team that actively creates and supports students in community engagement and active citizenship. She is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and peer reviewer of a number of journals related to language teaching and learning. Misty has been a NUS Teaching Academy fellow for the last 3 years and has joined projects related to community engagement, blended learning, and student life.




Nidya Shanthini Manokara

Dr Nidya Shanthini Manokara is a dance and theatre practitioner-researcher, educator, performer and dramaturg. In her practice research projects, Shanthini interrogates the intersection of movement, dance and theatre to critically analyse performance-making. She actively presents at international conferences including International Federation for Theatre Research and publishes in peer-reviewed journals.




Peace Wong

Associate Professor Peace Wong is Deputy Head and Field Director with the Department of Social Work. She teaches different practice modules at the undergraduate as well as postgraduate levels. As a Field Director, she oversees field placement and works closely with industry partners in ensuring that our curriculum is relevant and that our undergraduates/postgraduates are competent in practice. She has initiated and run training courses for field educators who supervise undergraduates/postgraduates to ensure that there is good synthesis between classroom teaching and field learning. In recognition of her outstanding achievements in teaching, she received the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award (2014-2022), Annual Teaching Excellence Award (2019, 2020, 2022) and is placed on Annual Teaching Excellence Award Honour Roll (2023-2027). 

A/P Peace Wong has been pivotal in advancing Social Work supervision standards in Singapore, leading workgroups in developing supervision guidelines and competency framework. She has provided consultations on various social service projects, including curriculum design, training, and programme development and evaluation for both the government and social service agencies. She was awarded Friends of MSF Award (2019) and was conferred the Outstanding Social Worker Award (2023), which is the highest award to Social Workers conferred by the President of the Republic of Singapore. 




Priscilla Pang

Dr Olivier Lefebvre is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research work is mainly in the fields of electrochemical technologies, advanced oxidations processes, industrial wastewater treatment, technology transfer and water reuse.  His teaching interests lie in the field of active learning in an authentic learning environment through serious gaming, mini-projects and experiential learning. He has experience with undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as adult learners.

Dr S. Amirhassan Monadjemi

Dr. Amirhassan Monajemi currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing, National University of Singapore (NUS). Prior to his tenure at NUS, Dr. Monajemi was affiliated with the Faculty of Computer Engineering at the University of Isfahan, Iran, where he distinguished himself as a professor specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and Data Science.

Dr. Monajemi's scholarly interests span a wide range of topics within the realm of computational sciences, including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Machine Vision, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Data Science. He is particularly interested in the practical applications of these disciplines in solving real-world problems. Furthermore, he is an advocate for lifelong learning and actively engages in initiatives aimed at workforce reskilling.

She focuses especially on how different societies organise themselves with contrasting ways and opportunities for human development.




Samson Tan

Dr Samson Tan

As the Director of the Learning and Professional Development Division (LPDD), Samson leads IAL's efforts to drive the development of adult education, the adoption of workplace learning, and the professionalisation of Continuing Education and Training (CET) professionals in the Training and Adult Education (TAE) sector.

Having held various roles in the education sector, Samson's portfolio included driving learning innovations as the Head of Centre in Innovation in Learning at the National Institute of Education and leading the development of continuing education and digitalisation of learning at Republic Polytechnic.

Samson holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Western Australia, a master’s in business administration from the University of Hull and a Bachelor of Science double major in Physics from the National University of Singapore, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education.




Sow Jin Sze

Ms Samantha Sow is a Senior Lecturer from the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at NUS Computing. She received her Master of Education from the University of Sheffield, and a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class) from the National University of Singapore. 

She has over 8+ years of experience in Business Analytics and conducts training for both government agencies and corporate clients to increase the business intelligence quotient within the organisations. 

Concurrently, she is part of the NUS SCALE Enterprise Transformation Project committee, where she provides training, consultancy services, and workplace-centric projects for business transformation.




Stephen Tay

Associate Professor Stephen Tay from the Department of the Built Environment obtained his PhD from Imperial College London under the National Research Foundation (Clean Energy) Overseas Scholarship, and subsequently the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) certification for andragogy. Locally, Assoc. Prof. Tay has been engaged by the Ministry of National Development (MND), Singapore Environment Institute (SEI), and Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) to conduct courses for adult learning and training for both the public and private sector. Beyond Singapore, Assoc. Prof. Tay has also been engaged by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) to conduct a one-week Training of Trainers workshop for decision-makers in the ASEAN region. In recognition of his teaching excellence in NUS, Assoc. Prof. Tay was awarded the Annual Teaching Excellence Award for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. 




Tan Wee Kek

Dr. Tan Wee Kek is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at the School of Computing, National University of Singapore. He is also currently serving as an Assistant Dean (Student Life) in the School of Computing, and a Fellow and EXCO member of the NUS Teaching Academy.  His current research interests broadly focus on consumer-based information technology and technology-enhanced learning.

 

With more than a decade of teaching experience behind him, he is firmly committed to nurturing the next generation of future-ready IT technologists and leaders. In particular, he has designed and taught many regular and executive courses targeting adult learners. He is also involved in the curriculum matters of the University’s new CET undergraduate degree programme, the Bachelor of Information Technology.




Wong Mun Loke

Associate Professor Wong Mun Loke is actively engaged in the design, planning and review of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery curriculum.  In addition to his contributions towards undergraduate education, he delivers continuing professional development programmes for oral healthcare professionals as part of his work in adult education.  With his experience in undergraduate and adult education, he has been able to distil relevant teaching strategies and approaches which can be leveraged to customise teaching and learning for different target audiences.  More recently, Mun Loke has been looking at how the formal and informal curricula can complement one another and contribute towards enhanced holistic educational experiences for students.  Mun Loke has been an active Fellow in the NUS Teaching Academy for the last 5 years and has participated in various projects aimed at transforming teaching and learning in higher education.




Dr Zhang Huiyu

Dr Zhang Huiyu

Dr Zhang Huiyu began her professional career as a Research Scientist at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) before fulfilling her inner calling of becoming a lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic (TP). With over a decade of experience, she has trained over one thousand students and working adult learners in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Analytics through full-time programmes and short courses. She received TP’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2018, Educational Innovation Award and Outstanding CET Contributor Award in 2023. Huiyu believes that to develop lifelong learners, lecturers themselves must be equipped with the right skillset, toolset, and mindset. In this regard, she supports her colleagues by coaching them to review and analyse the effectiveness of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment practices and engage in collaborative partnership with the industry and other educational institutions to stay relevant to the changing needs. She also inspires them to embrace new strategic teaching and learning (T&L) directions by spearheading T&L innovation as a principal investigator of several funded research projects in AI and Analytics, including using chatbots to support personalised learning.




Zhang Weina

Deputy Director, Sustainable and Green Finance Institute, National University of Singapore

Associate Professor Zhang Weina is with the Department of Finance in NUS Business School. She is also the Deputy Director of the Sustainable and Green Finance Institute (SGFIN) at NUS and the founding Academic Director for the MSc in Sustainable and Green Finance Programme. She has taught thousands of students at various levels such as undergraduates, postgraduates, executives, and adult learners throughout her academic career with NUS. Besides publishing peer-reviewed journal articles and case studies, Weina also frequently contributed her insights to newspapers, media channels, public webinars, conferences, industry talks and collaborated with many industry partners on research projects. She is a recipient of several international research awards and ten teaching awards at the school and university levels.




Zaid

Mr Zaid Hamzah
Executive Education Fellow, Advanced Computing for Executives, School of Computing
National University of Singapore

Zaid Hamzah is an AI and data strategist and practitioner specializing in AI in law and finance, AI and data governance and AI in information security.  An AI patent holder, he is currently an Executive Education Fellow at the NUS School of Computing’s Advanced Computing for Executives centre where he runs programmes on AI Innovation Management, Intellectual Property Rights in AI Innovation, and Commercialisation of AI Innovation. Zaid is deeply involved in AI R&D and innovation. Author of 10 books spanning law, technology, intellectual property and AI, Zaid has over 35 years of professional experience including having served as a Director at Microsoft and Senior Adviser to Singtel. He has a law degree from NUS and completed his Masters in International Relations at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University on a Fulbright scholarship.
