Course Objectives

As Industry 4.0 progresses, the introduction of 5G has accelerated the evolution of industries as well as the future of lives of people. Central to 5G technology is the enhanced wireless connectivity and this brings about innovations, new business opportunities for not just the telecommunication sector but companies with products and services closely linked to the technology.

Also, globally acknowledged to be the next big leap in mobile and wireless communications, 5G technology is widely touted to enable the development of new business models and advanced applications, fostering business innovation and spurring economic growth. Communities, businesses and industries are expected to benefit from the transformative impact that 5G enables.

This course aims to:

  • Build on the fundamental knowledge of an individual currently working in the telecommunication sector or companies with 5G-related industry to provide a more in-depth look-in to how their 5G products and services will impact and transform various industries verticals.
  • Provide professionals in the telco or 5G linked industries with practical business use cases for 5G features in different industry verticals.
  • Introduce the Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework and apply the BMC to build a business case for the 5G investments.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop new business ideas that can potentially create new revenue streams with 5G.

Mr. Chia Wai Kong 

 

Chia Wai Kong is the Director and Principal Consultant for Jakkolab Pte Ltd, a boutique consulting company specialised in technology training and process optimisation.

Wai Kong has 30+ years of experience in technology and business consulting, and system integration and project management with infocomms technology (ICT) multinational companies such as HP, Ericsson, Lithium Technologies and Huawei. He has taken up various roles in these companies as Project Director, Chief Architect, Principal Solution Consultant, Practice Principal and Senior Business Consultant.

He has a truly global perspective, having driven project deliveries and done consulting projects globally all over Asia, Australasia, Europe, East Africa and South America while working with delivery teams from SE Asia, China, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, Switzerland and USA.

Key projects include Digital Transformation of Hong Kong Telecoms Enterprise Business, launching Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) for Indonesian operator, Business Case development for fibre-to-the-home launch in Kenya, Business case for enterprise fibre project for Vodafone Germany, Project Director of a multi-team consulting project for Smart Communications Philippines, and Project Director for all-India subscriber registry rollout.

While in Huawei, he has conducted training and workshops in various telecom business processes and technologies related to the above projects. He was also a trainer of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) at Huawei University.

Since founding Jakkolab, Wai Kong has been conducting training in 5G and IoT for companies and undergraduates: a telco and a summer exchange programme. He has also delivered Digital Transformation training to Myanmar Imperial University MBA class and coached a Myanmar team of undergraduates for the ICAEW Business Challenge 2019. He is an Associate Trainer for a Malaysia-based premium technology provider where he has three 5G courses listed. He is also providing consulting in process improvement to drive Digital Transformation for SMEs in Singapore and Myanmar.

Wai Kong is a Singapore Certified Management Consultant (SCMC), has a Certificate in Digital Marketing from AVADO (jointly developed with Google) and is a Lithium-certified Online Community Manager.

Wai Kong has a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological Institute/National University of Singapore.

With more than 25 years’ experience in Internet and ICT industries, Reynels is a proven Enterprise Architect and Advisory Consultant that possesses broad experience and knowledge across Far-and-Wide technologies and Business Strategic Consultancy. With particularly focus on Digital Transformation & Technologies, he has extensive experience as Technology Architect and Business Consultant, on the domain of Digital Services, Artificial intelligence, Big Data, Omnichannel eCommerce, SDP, SOA, API Monetization, Telecommunication, Financial Services and Mobile Commerce.

As a Regional Customer Delivery Director for APAC Region, of Babylon Health an AI power Digital Health company, he is responsible of Programme Management, Customer Relationship and Customer Success Management. Managing the customers through engagement and coordination, to deliver Babylon Technology & Products to multiple territories, ensuring customer satisfaction in alignment to business visions.

Reynels was Chief Technology Officer of Good Doctor Technology (Singapore), that is resulted from a JV between Ping An (China) and Grab (SEA). He is responsible to lead and formulate technology delivery and operation strategy by develop & deliver a strategic technological & business vision and direction for the company, in alignment to delivery of O2O Healthcare Solution in South East Asia.

Prior to joining Good Doctor Technology, he was Sr. Management Consultant of Huawei Consulting, leverage on Machine Learning / AI Technology, to provide consultancy & solutions on Customer Value Management & Digital Operation Transformation.

In Huawei Technologies, Reynels is also a Principal Architect of Huawei Global Solution Elite Team, responsible to deliver solution and consultancy of Digital Transformation with focus on BSS domain and Digital Solutions for Telco. In this role, he engages and delivers Digital Transformation & Operations Transformation strategic solution to address customer’s business visions through understanding and translating of customer needs to concrete and executable technical solutions & business strategies.

In Huawei Technologies, he is also carrying out the responsibilities as the experience Expert Lecturer, participate to involve in course planning, course development, and course lecturing for various cross domain courses.

Prior to joining Huawei, Reynels worked in a variety of Director / Senior Manager positions as Head of Value Added & Digital Services, Head of Enterprise Architects, Head of Digital Innovations and Head of Network Operation Architecture etc across the field of Telecommunications, IT, and FSI, carry out the responsibilities from product development, technical development and operations.

Reynels graduated from Middlesex University London with MSc in Business Information Technology & Interactive Computing System. Reynels is also a certified Enterprise Architect (TOGAF).

1. All self-sponsored Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit to pay for the programme. Visit https://www.myskillsfuture.gov.sg/content/portal/en/training-exchange/course-landing.html to select the programme. 

2. Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) - Singaporeans aged 40 and above may enjoy subsidies up to 90% of the programme fee. 

3. Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS) - SME-sponsored employees (Singaporean Citizens and PRs) may enjoy subsidies up to 90% of the programme fee. https://www.skillsfuture.gov.sg/initiatives/employers/enhanced-training-support-for-smes for more information.

4. Eligible organisations may claim absentee payroll funding for Singaporean Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents attending SSG-approved courses during working hours. The absentee payroll funding is capped at $4.50 per hour and at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year.

5. Trainees under the Workfare Skills Support scheme may be eligible for absentee payroll funding of up to 95% hourly basis salary, capped at $13 per hour.

6. Companies eligible for absentee payroll will be required to log into the Enterprise Portal for Jobs and Skills (EPJS) to process the claims.

7. NTUC Enhanced Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) - NTUC members enjoy 50% of the unfunded course fee support of up to $250 each year for courses supported under UTAP (Union Training Assistance Programme).
