Course Objectives

Participants will understand and apply AI applications in the Place Making environment. Participants will study the fundamental background of AI, machine learning, data processing and uncertainty analysis, followed by AI applications in the environment. Major topics include fundamentals of AI, classification, prediction, clustering, fault detection and diagnosis.

Participants will be able:

  • to apply concepts of digital integration with place making (i.e. AI applications)
  • to leverage on technology to accomplish a variety of goals for the organisation through data processing and uncertainty analysis leading towards AI applications in the environment.
  • to understand software programs and applications relevant to place making.

Who Should Attend

Placemaking agents, place management professionals and urban planners/developers/consultants in both public agencies & private corporations.

Pre-Requisites

Degree or Advanced Diploma in any discipline.

The Board of Architects (BOA) – Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) is an accredited provider for Professional Development in Placemaking for SIA members.

ASST PROF CLAYTON MILLER

Dr Clayton Miller is an Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore in the College of Design and Engineering. Prof Miller is the leader of the Building and Urban Data Science Lab (BUDS) at NUS. BUDS is a scientific research group that leverages data sources from the built and urban environments to improve the energy efficiency and conservation, comfort, safety, and satisfaction of humans. Prof Miller holds a Doctor of Sciences (Dr. sc. ETH Zurich) from the ETH Zürich, an MSc. (Building) from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and a BSc./Masters of Architectural Engineering (MAE) from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL). He is a former U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Singapore and a Walter Scott Jr. Scholar at UNL.

Singapore Citizens or Singapore PRs eligible for the SSG grant must attain at least 75% training attendance and passed all prescribed assessments.

  1. All self-sponsored Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit to pay for the programme. Visit http://www.skillsfuture.sg/credit to select the programme. 
  2. Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) - Singaporeans aged 40 and above may enjoy subsidies up to 90% of the programme fee. 
  3. Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS) - SME-sponsored employees (Singaporean Citizens and PRs) may enjoy subsidies up to 90% of the programme fee. Click Here for more information. 
  4. Eligible organisations (excluding government entities) may apply for the absentee payroll funding for Singaporean/permanent resident participants attending the programme during working hours.   5. Eligible individuals may apply for training allowance capped at $6/hr under the WSS scheme, visit- WSG for more information..
  6. NTUC Training Fund (SEPs) – All self-employed (i.e. freelancers and sole-proprietors-with-no-employee) Singaporeans and Permanent Residents are eligible to apply for the NTUC Training Fund (SEPs) from NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i). Click here for more information.
