Placemaking Design Thinking

Course Reference No: TGS-2022011447

This course is part of the Professional Development in Placemaking. Click here to find out more about the Professional Development in Placemaking.

Course Objectives

Participants will apply how to build up contents (especially soft ones) for their Placemaking projects, creating places that will have soul and identity, and are rich in meaning, relevance, and deeply rooted in historical contextualism (this is important for luring tourists) yet contemporary in their expressions.

The course will also seek to inspire participants to begin to expand themselves to become multi- disciplinarians. The multi- disciplinarians are the best problem-solvers, innovators and leaders, as they are able to cut across disciplines and bridge the trenches between the boundaries of disciplines. They will be the best Placemakers, having the capability and capacity to grow others, and lead them forward.

After attending the course, participants will be able:

  • to  understand and define the nature of real-life problems taking into account the VUCA world.
  • to  understand briefly the history on knowledge classification to allow participants to see the limitations and dangers of swift reduction of Placemaking projects leading to narrow apparent domains in search of a solution.
  • to apply the multi-disciplinary approach holistically and adequately to address the issues and complexities of Placemaking.
