FINANCIAL ANALYSIS AND ACCOUNTING

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

This course will provide for students from non-financial background a strong foundation for financial statements interpretation and analysis.

By the end of the course, students should be able to interpret basic financial statements and perform comprehensive financial analysis to evaluate a business for decision making.

PRE-REQUISITES

There are no pre-requisites.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Students who have not completed any prior module on accounting or finance topics.

Complicated financial concepts will be demystified and explained in simple to understand terms for the non-financial student.

18 hours of synchronous lessons, tutorials and a final project presentation.

James is the founder and master trainer of Visions.One Consulting Pte Ltd. He brings to his clients and participants more than 20 years of financial, management and international training experience. Prior to becoming an educator, he was Head of Finance (APAC) for a Fortune 500 company. As a chartered accountant, James achieved distinction for achieving the top 5% of results in his professional accounting examinations in Australia.

James is an Adjunct Associate Professor with the National University of Singapore. He has also facilitated the CA programme for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. James is the inventor of the Accounting in a Box® learning toolkit and has created the Financial Storytelling™ method which makes learning finance intuitively simple, easy and fun for non-finance people. Learners not just learn to interpret and apply concepts but also develop confidence to speak the language of finance with fluency so they can carry out meaningful conversations during meetings with finance and the CEO.

In his customised training programmes, James has consulted for clients including US Fortune 100 companies such as AIA, Becton Dickinson, Chevron Texaco, Discovery, Dow Jones, GE Life, Honeywell, Sanofi, Safran, IBM, Lion Capital, Louis Vuitton, Merck, Mitsubishi Electronics, Mizuho Corporate Bank, Duke Corporate Education, Singapore Management University, Oracle, Panasonic, Philips Electronics, Prudential, SingTel, Wildlife Reserves of S’pore, UOB, OCBC, DBS Bank, SATS and Sumitomo-Mitsui Banking Corp. CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Successful participants who complete all requirements of the programme including passing the assessment will receive a certificate of completion issued by NUS SCALE.
