NUS SCALE forms Company Training Committee with two subsidiaries of WIS Holdings
22 August 2019 – The NUS School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (NUS SCALE) has signed an agreement with the subsidiaries of leading services provider WIS Holdings – Weishen Industrial Services and Campaign Complete Solutions – to form a Company Training Committee (CTC).
As a training partner, NUS SCALE will provide the expertise and resources needed to upskill and reskill the workforce of both companies, as well as co-develop solutions that will address their hiring, training and productivity needs.
Other signatories to the CTC included the Building Construction and Timber Industries Employees’ Union (BATU) and e2i (Employment & Employability Institute).
The signing was witnessed by Guest of Honour Mr Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Education, and also coincided with the opening of WIS Holdings’ WISH Training Academy.
Guests were later given a tour of the training academy, which showcased the use of technology in its cleaning processes and applications – such as autonomous cleaning robots and human cleaners outfitted with smartwatches which allows them to respond to situations in real-time.
Mr Chee said that all enterprises, regardless of size and sector, need to embrace technology as a tool to improve productivity, reduce operating costs and develop better products and services, but noted that the process of harnessing technology needed to remain human centric.
“We need to look at how technology augments workers by simplifying certain functions they perform or giving them a boost in productivity. On the part of the workers, they also have to embrace lifelong learning and continual skills upgrading to ensure that they are able to handle the new equipment and make good use of the new technologies."
