NUS SCALE signs MOU with Sembwaste and BATU to upskill workers in the waste management industry

6 June 2019 – The NUS School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (NUS SCALE) has partnered with Sembwaste and the Building Construction and Timber Industries Employees’ Union in the formation of the first Company Training Committee (CTC) for the waste management industry.

The CTC seeks to build a competent and sustainable workforce for Sembwaste and to enable the transition of workers into new jobs as the company transforms to be future-ready.

In this collaboration, NUS SCALE will design, develop and curate training programmes, and conduct joint explorations into training platforms and processes that will upskill workers in the industry.

The MOU signing was held at Sembwaste’s Tuas Bay Drive facility, and was witnessed by Mr Ng Chee Meng, Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress.

Apart from NUS SCALE, other partners of the CTC included the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and NTUC LearningHub.
